Current Projects

Over View

As of early 2020, Stef found herself in a similar situation to most artists with creative plans placed on hiatus due to Covid-19. Despite this, she has continued to develop new work for both stage and screen. Some highlights include:

- Stef was a finalist for the Susan Smith-Blackburn award, which is the biggest playwriting prize for women writing in English. She attended the awards ceremony in New York just prior to lockdown. 

- Stef has been commissioned to write a new series called Float for BBC Scotland and Black Camel Productions. This tender love story looks at the life of LGBTQ teens in rural communities. 

 - Her radical adaptation of Ibsen's A Doll House opened in February to 5 star review's at the Young Vic in London. The text entitled Nora : A Dolls House, was directed by Elizabeth Freestone. It managed to run 6 of it's 7 weeks before closing slightly early due to national lockdown. 

- Stef is currently working on a feature film with Element Pictures (Normal People, The Favourite, Room)

- Stef is currently developing a new pilot for a supernatural thriller with BBC and Dancing Ledge Productions (The Salisbury Poisonings)

- Her short film How to Grow a Nation starring Kate Dickie (The Witch, Game of Thrones, Red Road) is still avaible to watch. You can watch it here.

- Stef also took part in several digital lockdown projects including writing a short film with the BBC and National Theatre of Scotland, called The Present. You can watch it here. She also wrote a short play for young people entitled The Pack, which is available to youth groups for free until the spring of 2021. 

Her current stage commissions include - The National Theatre of Scotland, The Royal Court, Manchester Royal Exchange, Leeds Playhouse, The Lyceum in Edinburgh and Guildhall at the Barbican.
